foodcall
German-speaking AI voice bot that takes phone and WhatsApp orders 24/7
foodcall answers a restaurant's phone line and WhatsApp with a conversational voice bot that takes delivery and pick-up orders, table reservations and questions in natural German, then pushes them to a web dashboard or the POS. It launched in March 2022 with 121 pilot restaurants after three years of development at Leipzig-based we-do.ai and remembers repeat callers' addresses and previous orders. The company says restaurants pay per handled call and can switch the bot on or off at will.
Our reading. Best for German pizzerias and delivery restaurants that lose phone orders at peak and want an AI line answered without hiring staff.
Strengths
- Handles several calls at once during peaks and never misses an order
- Pay-per-use model with no fixed hardware; can be activated for evenings only
- Trained on German dialects and colloquial ordering rather than generic voice AI
Limits
- POS and delivery-platform integrations still listed as in progress on the site
- German only; no public pricing or customer numbers
- Small Saxony-based team; product communication has been sparse since 2023
