Joyn
Shared loyalty network for local merchants
Joyn runs a digital loyalty programme that thousands of Belgian local merchants share through one card and app. Shops, bakeries, salons and horeca reward points via a tablet at the counter and use the built-in CRM and coupon e-mails to bring customers back. The company is backed by KBC, ING and BNP Paribas Fortis and also operates in Germany and France.
Our reading. Best for independent Belgian shops, salons and horeca that want a ready-made loyalty programme with a large existing user base.
Strengths
- Large existing consumer base (about 2 million local shoppers) that merchants tap into immediately
- Very simple counter hardware and self-serve onboarding with public pricing
- Backed and distributed by the major Belgian banks (KBC, ING, BNP Paribas Fortis)
Limits
- Loyalty programme is largely standardised; less flexible than bespoke loyalty platforms
- Strongest network effect only in Belgium
Formed in 2016 from the CityLife-Qustomer merger; Belgium's leading shared loyalty network with about 2 million shoppers
Shareholders are KBC, ING, BNP Paribas Fortis and the founders; promoted through bank channels such as ING Business; offices in Hasselt, Düsseldorf and Paris
