Brick
Power-bank rental stations that venues host for free and share revenue on
Brick places power-bank sharing stations in cafés, bars, restaurants, shops and hotels; customers tap a card or scan the app to rent a battery and return it to any station in the network. The venue pays nothing, receives a share of rentals and gains a reason for customers to stay. Brick runs the network through local franchise partners and acquired Volt (Denmark) and LaadMaar/Pluggo (Netherlands, Belgium).
Our reading. Best for cafés, bars and restaurants in cities covered by a Brick partner that want a free customer amenity and a small extra revenue line.
Strengths
- No cost or maintenance for the venue; installation handled by Brick or its partner
- Card and Apple Pay or Google Pay rental on the Core+ station removes the need for an app
- Network effect: batteries can be returned at any partner venue in the city
Limits
- Coverage depends on a local franchisee; not yet available in every EU city
- Revenue share for the venue is modest and not published
