Veesion
AI that spots shoplifting gestures on existing CCTV and alerts staff on their phones
Veesion plugs into a shop's existing security cameras and uses gesture-recognition models to detect theft-related movements, sending a short video clip to staff phones within seconds. It equips more than 6,000 supermarkets, pharmacies and specialist stores, including Leclerc, Intermarché, Carrefour City and Intersport outlets. The company raised €53M in May 2025 to expand in Europe and the United States.
Our reading. Best for supermarkets, pharmacies and specialist stores with existing CCTV that lose stock to shoplifting and want alerts without extra staff.
Strengths
- Works with the cameras already installed; no facial recognition, which eases GDPR review
- Alerts arrive as short clips on a phone, so a cashier or manager can act immediately
- Large installed base in French supermarkets and pharmacies, with published shrink-reduction cases
Limits
- Requires cameras that cover shelves at suitable angles; some shops need extra cameras
- Subscription pricing is on quote and depends on camera count
